Diego Aceña Moreno

Flute

Diego Aceña Moreno was born in Madrid and began his flute studies at the age of seven at the Amaniel Conservatory of Music in Madrid.  After graduating from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón, he studied at the Royal College of Music in London with Jaime Martín, Sue Thomas, Chris Green and Stewart Mcilwham, receiving scholarships from the Community of Madrid and the Leverhulme Orchestra Mentroship and completing his Master in Orchestral Performance, finishing in 2013 with Distinction and winning the RCM first prize for flute.

He gained orchestral experience being a member of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Gustav Mahler Akademie and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. Before completing his studies, he won the position of academician at the London Philharmonic Orchestra (2013/2014) and then at the Staatskapelle Dresden (2014-2016), where Sabine Kittel was his mentor and also receiving classes from Rozalia Szabo. Diego Aceña Moreno has been Flute Co Soloist at the Staatstheater Kassel since 2016, and regularly collaborates with orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, the National Orchestra of Spain, the Frankfurt Opera, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra. Numerous concert tours have taken him to Europe, Asia and South America, working with conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Andris Nelsons, Herbert Blomstedt, Paavo Järvi, Theodor Currentzis, Daniel Harding and Yannick Nézet-Séguin to name a few.
